Hey ladies!! Well I couldn’t be more honored or excited to join this group of talented women who currently write for Fitness RX for Women online. I’ve always had a passion for writing but more importantly love to help those around me succeed at their goals, become better versions of themselves, and just be happy healthy individuals.

A little background about myself for y’all! I am a born and raised Georgia Peach! I grew up playing sports; swimming and gymnastics mainly, but I did partake in tap, jazz, ballet, track and pole vaulting at various points growing up. Following high school, I went on to attend Virginia Tech with a 4-year athletic scholarship in swimming. I swam all 4 years of college and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Nutrition Food and Exercise (the Science of option) and later would go on to get my EMT-Intermediate license.

After college I went through many jobs; I worked for Anheuser-Busch, the Atlanta Braves (MLB), the Atlanta Thrashers (NHL), the Atlanta Hawks (NBA), CYC Fitness just to name a few. I experienced many high’s; I became a sponsored athlete, I turned pro in the bikini division of the IFBB, graced the cover of two Fitness RX for Women magazines (April 2012 and June 2013), competed on the Olympia stage twice and the Arnold stage twice and I moved from Atlanta to California. I experienced many low’s; called off my wedding, decided against attending graduate school to become a physician’s assistant, felt lost, confused, empty, and sad. BUT! All of it would ultimately shape and mold me into the woman I am today and I am forever grateful for each experience. Today I am living in Los Angeles, California (been here just about a year now), I am one of APS Nutrition’s sponsored athletes, and I work for Feld Entertainment and Fox Sports as the current Miss Supercross. I am a firm believer that there is no right or wrong way to go through life and that we can learn so much from everyone around us if we just allow ourselves to be open and vulnerable. I think everyone’s journey is different but at the end of the day, we are all human and our core needs/wants are the same; we want to be happy, healthy, successful, and we want to love ourselves and be loved.

When I was asked a couple weeks ago to start writing for Fitness RX I experienced so many waves of emotions at once. It was a dream come true for me because I have a passion for helping others and love being able to share my success and failures with women. And like I said before I love to write! But I was also nervous and anxious. What will I write about? What will I share? Will people want to read it? Will it even be good? But I had to stop myself right there and say, “practice what you preach Juliana!” Just be you and do what you love doing. I decided to call my blog “Back to the Basics. Why, you might ask! Well when I moved to California a year ago it was for many reason; I needed change, I wanted to chase my dreams, I needed to ruffle my waters, and I just needed to reevaluate myself and my life. And for me forcing myself out of my comfort zone/bubble was the only way I was going to start the process and make positive changes. Since being out here I have worked on my mental processing, my mindset, my body, my heart and honestly just went back to the basics in all areas of my life. A clean slate, a fresh start, a new me! My mom always jokes with me and says I’m an open book and sometimes I share too much with people. But ya know, I’m southern so I love to talk haha! And in all honesty, I’m just real. When I write and share videos on here I am going to focus on workout exercises, using proper techniques, form, function, stability etc.; lots of basic movements that so many of us can’t do or do incorrectly, which in turn effects many other aspects of not only our workout, but our success in the gym and ultimately how our bodies look and feel. Like I said before, I talk a lot, and I share too much 😉 so I am sure I’ll end up incorporating other areas of my life into what I write and film for y’all as well. But at the end of the day I hope all of it motivates you, helps you, opens your eyes, and challenges you to become the best version of yourself; all the while remaining true to who you are at your core!

I look forward to getting to know each one of you and just know I’m always here to help if you ever have questions or requests! Let’s rewire our minds and bodies and take them Back to the Basics so we can become the best versions of ourselves!! Until next week; Dream, Believe, Achieve!

XOXO, Juliana
